Genre Research: Drama
For the genre project, I was tasked with researching a genre of film and creating a PowerPoint on it. We needed a total of ten slides for our PowerPoint. I ended up choosing to research the drama genre. My first slide included the title "Drama" and my name. The second slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of lighting that are used in a drama film. Some types of lighting used are three-point lighting, high key lighting, and natural lighting. The third slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of camera angles that are used in a drama film. Some examples were wide shots, establishing shots, close-ups, over-the-shoulder shots, high angle shots, and low angle shots. The fourth slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of camera movements that are used in a drama film. A few were pans, dolly tracks, cranes, zoom-ins, and zoom-outs. The fifth slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of Mis-En-Scene that are used in a drama film. Mis-En-Scene includes the costumes, acting, makeup, props, and settings that are used in a film. The sixth slide includes descriptions and examples of sounds used in drama films. Sounds used were diegetic sound, non-diegetic, dialogue, voiceover, score, incidental music, stings, and ambient sound. The seventh slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of elements that are used in a drama film. I included elements like themes, plots, characters, dialogue, and setting. In the eighth slide, it was an opinion-based question of what elements of a drama film that I enjoy. In the ninth slide, it was an opinion-based question of what elements of a drama film that I don't enjoy. In the last slide, I included different drama films that I've watched. I included movies like A Star Is Born, The Notebook, Mamma Mia, The Titanic, The Last Song, The Great Gatsby, and more.
