Creative Critical Reflection for the Music Video

Creative Critical Reflection: TiK ToK                          (1) How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? All media contains conventions. A convention is a generally accepted way of doing something. For the music video project, I chose a pop song. In my music video, I use many conventions. First, let's talk about the character that was in the music video. On the first day that I filmed, I wore a pink cropped sweatshirt and black flowy shorts. I realized that the week that I was going to film my music video, it was going to be cold outside. On the second day of filming for my music video, I decided to refilm the entire video because I wanted to wear something different. I decided to wear black leggings, a white crop top, a black zip-up jacket, white high top shoes. throughout the whole video, I wore a pair of shiny, purple, and pink sunglasses. I would say that ...

TiK ToK (Music Video)

"TiK ToK"  For the music video project, I was actually really excited, but I had many questions. What song am I going to choose? How do I want to film it? Do I want more people in the video or just myself? What would I wear in the video? What props would I use? I had many more questions but I had to think quickly. I ended up choosing a song called "TiK ToK" by Kesha. I chose this song because I needed to choose a song that I knew the lyrics to, and I can never go wrong with a 2000s song. I posted my intro blog on November 13th. This blog was all about my song choice and if I was planning to film with anyone else. Then a few days later I started researching the pop music genre. I posted my research blog on November 16th. The day after, I posted my planning blog. This blog was about my filming schedule, my props, and my costumes. In the days after, I drew out my storyboard and posted it on November 20th. This blog is the most important in my opinion. Without the story...

Editing for my Music Video

Image
On Wednesday, December 2nd, I refilmed my music video and I also edited it. The process of editing is actually really fun for me. I first watched all of the clips that I recorded to see which ones I wanted to use. Once I favorited all of the clips that I wanted to use, I airdropped them to my laptop. Once the clips were all on my laptop, I opened up iMovie, and I uploaded the different shots onto the application. Next, I put the shots in the order that I wanted them in. I did this by dragging each individual clip onto the bottom section on iMovie. Then I had to find the song that I was using. I needed an mp3 version of the song (just the sound, not a video). I found a version of the song and I downloaded it onto my laptop. I dragged it to the bottom section of iMovie. I placed it under the clips of me so that you could see the video and hear the music, all at the same time. I organized my clips in the same order in which I filmed them in. I also cut the music so it would only be one mi...

Filming for my Music Video: Part Two

Image
On Wednesday, December 2nd, I refilmed the first few clips for my music video. I also filmed the rest of the clips that I needed. I decided to refilm the first few clips that I had filmed on the 30th because I didn't like the lighting of them because I filmed them when the sun was setting. This time, I filmed during the day. Once my online classes for school were over for the day, I began to set up all of my props and equipment. I opened up my laptop and pulled up the song so I could sing-along to the lyrics at the correct speed. I started by setting up my tripod next to my bed. I then screwed on a ring light to the top of the tripod so I could have good lighting. Finally, I decided to use my cellphone to film because it's just a lot faster to get the scene correct. I filmed every scene in order again because I needed my transitions to work together and make sense. The first two scenes were filmed in my bed. I filmed the third scene in my bathroom and I used a toothbrush. The f...
