Genre Research: Action and Comedy

Action: 

What are some common CAMS (camera angles, movement, and shots) in action films?

Some camera shots are long shots and close-ups. Some angles are low angles, high angles, and over-the-shoulders. Some movements are pans and tilts, tracking, dolly, crane, and zooms. 

What are some common CLAMPS (costumes, lighting, acting, makeup, props, and setting) in action films? 

Costumes in action films are normally normal clothes, but they always end up getting destroyed, ripped, or dirty. Lighting is high key lighting and low key lighting. Make-up is usually not used or not visible in an action film. Props are always weapons and any violent thing. Settings are always normal places.   

What are some common forms of editing in action films? 

There is a lot of editing that happens after the movie is filmed because there is a lot of breaking and destroying, which most of the time involves a lot of editing. 

What are some example films of action films?

Suicide Squad, Mulan, The Avengers, and Black Panther are all action films. 

What are some common forms of sound in action films? 

A lot of dialogue is used in action films. I think the most used form of sound is diegetic sound. 

What elements of action films do you like?

I like how in action films, the characters do everything for one specific motive. They all have a purpose, and it's usually to solve the problem. I also really like the make-up and costumes that are used in action films, a lot of the time the wardrobe is not what normal people would wear on a daily basis. 

What elements of action films do you not like?

I don't like how there is so much violence involved in an action film. 

 

Comedy:

What are some common CAMS (camera angles, movement, and shots) in comedy films?

Close-ups, long-shots, point-of-view shots, high and low angles, and hand-helds are all used in a comedy.    

What are some common CLAMPS (costumes, lighting, acting, makeup, props, and setting) in comedy films? 

The location, set, costumes, lighting, and makeup is usually normal. The props are sometimes used to make a scene funnier. 

What are some common forms of editing in comedy films? 

Shot reverse shots, cross-cutting, slow-motions, and long-takes are all used in comedies to make the scenes funnier. 

What are some examples films of comedy films?

Bridesmaids, You Again, Deadpool, and 21 Jumpstreet are all comedies. 

What are some common forms of sound in comedy films? 

Dialogue is probably the most used form of sound in a comedy. 

What elements of comedy films do you like?

I love how much a film can make me laugh. Sometimes the movie will be so funny, that I'm left crying with laughter. 

What elements of comedy films do you not like?

I don't like how nothing is really taken seriously. Sometimes, comedy films are too wrapped up in the jokes, that the actual plot isn't that good.

TiK ToK (Music Video)

"TiK ToK"  For the music video project, I was actually really excited, but I had many questions. What song am I going to choose? How do I want to film it? Do I want more people in the video or just myself? What would I wear in the video? What props would I use? I had many more questions but I had to think quickly. I ended up choosing a song called "TiK ToK" by Kesha. I chose this song because I needed to choose a song that I knew the lyrics to, and I can never go wrong with a 2000s song. I posted my intro blog on November 13th. This blog was all about my song choice and if I was planning to film with anyone else. Then a few days later I started researching the pop music genre. I posted my research blog on November 16th. The day after, I posted my planning blog. This blog was about my filming schedule, my props, and my costumes. Production Blog: Filming is complete, now continuing to edit

These past few days have been really productive in regards to my film. I finished filming all of my remaining scenes over the past two days. I did this on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, I went to the beach to film the driving scenes. I have a couple scenes that take place in my car, so I had to film a lot of angles and views. I went to the beach with my mom, because some of the clips don't take place inside of the car. She drove my car, while I filmed. She doesn't know how to film, so since the clips were from far away, you can't tell who's driving the car. On Wednesday, I filmed the scenes that take place at my house. Either in the driveway or inside. I was waiting until Wednesday to film these scenes because I didn't have the props for them until earlier this week. I used a cardboard box for one scene.
