Genre Research: The Notebook
What elements of the genre, that you chose to base your final task on, does this movie have?
Some elements that are in the movie, The Notebook, that I want in my film are some aspects of the plot. I like the general plot of one person striving for the other person to like them back, and how they would do anything for the other person. Noah builds a whole house and writes 365 letters to Allie because he loved her so much. The idea that he did all of that even though she was engaged to someone else, was so sweet. I also like the natural lighting that was used to make the movie. It shows how real the situation was.
What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?
I love how the whole movie is the story of Noah and Allie from start to finish. From the day they met, to the day they died. Noah builds a whole house and writes 365 letters to Allie because he loved her so much. I also really like how the two of them met. They were at the fair and she just caught his eye. From there, he was persistent and begged for a date.
What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?
The saddest part of the whole movie was when Noah and Allie are old and they die together. The point of that scene was that they loved each other so much, that they would never want to be apart again. I like the point of the scene, but it was so sad. I was bawling. I also didn't like how Allie had dementia. It was really sad how Noah knew who she was, and loved her, but she didn't.
