Editing Blog: Putting It All Together
Once I got back home from filming on Sunday, November 1st, I uploaded all of the material that I had gathered from my camera to my cellphone. I did this because I wanted to watch all of the shots so I could choose the ones that I was going to use for the commercial. Once I chose my favorite shots, I airdropped them to my laptop. I opened up iMovie and then I uploaded the different shots onto the application. I put the shots in the order that I wanted them in. I put the "car" scene first, the "walking towards the beach" scene second, the "sitting in the sand" scene third. Then, the fourth scene was the "running towards the ocean" scene, and the fifth was the "running back from the ocean" scene. The sixth scene was the super common scene from Coca-Cola commercials, which is the "drinking from a bottle" but from a side angle scene. the seventh and final scene was where just the Coca-Cola bottle is on the ground. Then I realized many of the shots were a lot longer than I needed them to be. Some were 20 seconds long and others were up to a minute and a half long. My commercial was like four minutes long at this point. I needed it to only be thirty seconds. On iMovie, I have the ability to trim each individual shot to my liking, so I did that. I trimmed every shot so I could have the correct part that I needed in the actual end result. Then I went on to crop a few of the shots. Some were a little too far away and the viewer would've barely seen anything. Some were not centered either. Now that that was done I only had to add music and captions. I found a song that I really enjoyed and it gave me a Coca-Cola feel-good kind of vibe. The song I used was actually used for Coca-Cola commercials in the past. I attached it to my iMovie application and turned down the background noise from the shots and turned up the volume from the music. I then went on to add captions where they were needed. I included words on the commercial so that I could make it obvious that I wanted to sell more of the product. Finally, I added logos and stickers where needed. My commercial was now finished.
