Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
When I went on the website, Watch the Titles, there were many different articles and videos to watch. There were four tabs at the top with options to either see title sequences, designers, studios and then search. On the title sequences tab, there were options that said feature films, tv shows, event titles, student projects, video games, and french Fridays. I clicked on feature films and watched a few videos. I noticed that they were all different from each other. Not one opening title scene is the same. I never really paid too much attention to the title scenes of movies. From watching videos and looking through more stuff on the website, I realized that each title represented something special about the movie, and sort of gave a sneak peek at what the film was going to look like. I want my title to have a good representation of what my film is about. I want the watcher to want to continue to watch the rest of the film, from just seeing the title and the title beginning scene.  ...

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
When I went on the website, Art of the Title, there were many different articles and videos to watch. There were two tabs at the top right with options to either see title sequences and designers and studios. On the title sequences tab, a bunch of articles and videos appeared for you to click on. On the designers and studios tab, a big list of names came up. I wasn't familiar with any of the names on the list, so I began to look at a few of them. I have never really paid too much attention to the titles of movies. I also never really thought so much went into creating the title of a movie. I think it's amazing how much detail and trial and error goes into drawing and creating a title. For my final task, I'm going to create a title with either pastel colors, or bright vibrant colors. I want my title to have a good representation of what my film is about.

Genre Research: To All the Boys I've Loved Before

Image
What elements of the genre, that you chose to base your final task on, does this movie have? Some elements that are in the movie, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, that I want in my film are some aspects of the plot. The unexpectedness of the relationship between Peter and Lara Jean is amazing. Considering that my film is about two best friends, a guy and a girl, that end up liking each other, is unexpected too. I also like how it's teens in high school. It makes the film more relatable to individuals that are in the same age range as me.      What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like? I like how unexpected the movie was. Lara Jean writes letters to her crushes, but never sends them. Her little sister mails them, thinking that's what Lara Jean wanted. Now with all of the guys confronting her about the letters that she wrote years ago, she panics. She ends up kissing one of the guys, Peter, to avoid Josh which was her sister's ex. They then plan to ...

Genre Research: The Notebook

Image
What elements of the genre, that you chose to base your final task on, does this movie have? Some elements that are in the movie, The Notebook, that I want in my film are some aspects of the plot. I like the general plot of one person striving for the other person to like them back, and how they would do anything for the other person. Noah builds a whole house and writes 365 letters to Allie because he loved her so much. The idea that he did all of that even though she was engaged to someone else, was so sweet. I also like the natural lighting that was used to make the movie. It shows how real the situation was.      What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like? I love how the whole movie is the story of Noah and Allie from start to finish. From the day they met, to the day they died. Noah builds a whole house and writes 365 letters to Allie because he loved her so much. I also really like how the two of them met. They were at the fair and she just caught h...

Genre Research: The Great Gatsby

Image
What elements of the genre, that you chose to base your final task on, does this movie have? Some elements that are in the movie, The Great Gatsby, that I want in my film are some aspects of the plot. I like the general plot of one person striving for the other person to like them back, and how they would do anything for the other person. I also really like how Jay Gatsby protects Daisy, even though they're not even together. I'm definitely going to include the romance aspect of the drama film in my film. The part of the movie where they see each other after a long time is perfect, and I'm going to definitely do something similar in my project.      What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like? I love how the whole movie shows how much Jay Gatsby would and did do for Daisy. Everything he would buy and do always had him thinking if Daisy would approve of it. His entire life was dedicated to being with Daisy and getting her back after he went to war. He bough...

Genre Decision Blog

Image
For my final task, I decided to film something in the genre of drama. Being a teenage girl, I feel like a drama would relate more to me and my lifestyle. Yes, I'm a very dramatic person. I'm also a hopeless romantic, so I always love watching romantic drama movies and shows. I love the idea of showing a love story between two people, and everything that happens in between. Not all relationships are the same, and none of them are perfect. Drama films are always the most realistic and natural films to watch. They represent real experiences and conflicts that individuals actually go through and can relate to. I also really like how large the drama film industry is. A drama can involve crime, history, romance, and more. Dramas are the most relatable in my opinion, and there's always something for everyone and anyone to watch within the genre. I tend to watch more romantic dramas because I love romance and love. The idea that one person can make someone so happy and feel so love...

Genre Research: Drama

Image

I ended up choosing to research the drama genre. My first slide included the title "Drama" and my name. Some types of lighting used are three-point lighting, high key lighting, and natural lighting. The third slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of camera angles that are used in a drama film. Some examples were wide shots, establishing shots, close-ups, over-the-shoulder shots, high angle shots, and low angle shots. The fourth slide includes descriptions and examples of the types of camera movements that are used in a drama film. A few were pans, dolly tracks, cranes, zoom-ins, and zoom-outs. My Pitch

Image
While I brainstormed different ideas for my film, I came up with a lot. My top two choices are as follows. My first pitch is called "No Matter the Distance". The film is a story between two teens, but one is moving to Florida. Before moving, she tells him that she's been in love with him, thinking he wouldn't feel the same way, but he does. The two teens must now tackle all the challenges of a long-distance relationship. My second pitch is called "Bumping Into Love". The film is about a teenage love story. A girl is hanging out with her friend when she accidentally bumps into a guy. She doesn't get his name or his number, but she can't stop thinking about him. She sees him again a few days later, so she takes that as a sign to go talk to him. Both films are really similar because they are both about love. Both are also based on experiences that I have personally had, so I knew they would be really interesting. I ended up going with the film called ...

Starting the Final Task

Image
Hello, my name is Paulina Moreno. I'm in twelfth grade and I'm heading to college in the fall of 2021. I was originally born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, but I've moved a lot since then. I've lived in many parts of Mexico, and also in Georgia and Florida, here in the United States. I've never really stayed in one place for too long, but that's what makes my life so fun. Everything I have experienced in the past has made me into the person I am today. My life is kind of like a movie, there are many ups and downs that shape the character into the person they are. That's why I love Media Studies. I want to learn how movies are created and all the different things that are incorporated into the film industry. I also want to learn how movies from other countries are made because I used to live in another country and movies are really different there. For the final task assignment, I decided to work by myself. Because COVID-19 is still a big problem in the United States...
